Why these are the first steps
The first lessons focus on greetings, personal information and immediate everyday needs. That matches beginner language goals in the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages and the Icelandic curriculum for Icelandic as a second language. A phrase you miss returns later, while a phrase you know moves out of the way.
